The Conditioned Human

The installation explores the complex relationship humans can have with home. My work was influenced by Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s short story “The Yellow Wall Paper”. Gilman’s short story depicts a young women struggling with her sanity, slowly losing herself in the pattern of yellow wall paper in her bedroom. Home is a safe place, but can also be one where one feels trapped. The work included in “The Conditioned Human” incorporates the body into household objects to explore this relationship.
