Africville: A History Erased

As Canadians we feel discomfort in having a discussion of our past colonial history, and is often hidden away. Africville was a vibrant community in Nova Scotia inhabited by Black Loyalists (Black settlers), then destroyed by the government and erased from history books. Systemic racism should be discussed more in Canada, so I placed these theme onto fashion garments, hidden behind the bright colors and abstract shapes, that reflect the stereotypes we see about Black culture and identity.
