01 For Jurying Consideration

Family Chain transforms family photo archives into large-scale paintings honoring my aunt. I explore grief, memory, and the connection between the living and the deceased through intimate snapshots. Using blue to reflect memory’s evolution, as well as symbols like halos and her obituary, the work blends personal and spiritual reverence. It’s a meditation on portraiture as a means to preserve memory and process unresolved grief.

Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

We knew little that morning, God was going to call your name, In life we loved you dearly, In death we do the same.
We knew little that morning, God was going to call your name, In life we loved you dearly, In death we do the same.
You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, You are always by our side.
You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, You are always by our side.
