“Animator, illustrator, and concept artist based in Toronto, raised in mainland China who's always on the way of a brand new adventure.”
Monica Mu is an animator, illustrator, and concept artist based in Toronto, raised in mainland China. Her main point of interest lies in fantasy-based work, as well as work exploring human self-recognition and related philosophical theories and social circumstances. She narrates dramatic and innovative plots with a cheerful and comedic visual style. Monica is also interested in metaphoric methods of representation in narratives such as fables, fairytales, and all genres of the sort while her main practice also focuses on this type of narration. Tragic and cruel stories are her favorite while ironic narrations are also big on her list.Monica tells her stories with frame-by-frame and composited animation, as well as digital illustrations. She loves Adobe After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop for the magical visuals that she can achieve but hates them when they decide to crash and erase all her saves. She draws inspiration from movies, anime, video games, and more from the ACG subcultures while spending time on them more than she should. Her dream is to have her own team working on developing fictional universes on-screen she created from scratch, or dedicate her efforts to a larger series with trusted team members. She is looking forward to stepping into the industry and begin her adventures as an artist.
