“A series of narrative costumes, the Medal winning thesis "Arachne" is an investigation of identity and the exhibition of artifice, imagining a Greek myth into surreal forms. Informed by a combination of historical tailoring and experimental techniques, the story is broken down into three figures; the mortal Chorus, the God Athena and the monstrous Spider. The work includes needle felting, corsetry, hand stitching, puppetry and wire. ”
Toronto-based, LeBlanc's practice is informed by her internships with the National Ballet and the Canadian Opera Company, as well as previous studies at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Graduate and Medal winner of the Material Arts and Design program at OCADU, her practice oscillates between fashion and costume, being featured in publications such as Kaltblut Magazine, S Magazine and Sukeban Magazine. She currently works as the designer/creator of the online clothing shop "Dracula Ballet".
