Malakai is an interdisciplinary 3D animator and student at The Ontario College of Art and Design University. He’s been working with computers and teaching photoshop and other editing software since 2010. In 2016 Malakai Graduated from George Brown College with a Certificate in Art Fundamentals and continued to further his education at OCADU. During this time, he has worked with various companies and festivals such as Nuit blanche, Rogers, AMP Studios, Chatelaine and more. Originally a cameraman, he found a passion for telling stories. Slowly he realized that a camera while a great tool, is restricting and couldn’t account for everything and as such he began to learn to edit. This passion for telling stories slowly transformed into a fascination and love for animation. He believes that with enough skill anything and everything is possible through animation, from the most absurd fantasies to the most realistic tales, all can be crafted. With the Release of Blender 2.8, he decided to focus his efforts on it, becoming a contributor and a beta tester for the program, and in 2019 he spent 2 months learning new techniques and animating them every day. His goal is to become an animation storyteller, whether through 3D games or for animated shorts and TV shows. He has developed an affinity for tools like Blender, Maya, Marvellous Designer, Touch Designer, Unreal Engine 4, Unity Adobe Photoshop, Fuse, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Adobe Lightroom and the NewTech TriCaster.
