“My 2020 OCADU illustration thesis is titled "Cyberfolk". It explores a fictionalized futuristic environment oversaturated with technology and the ways that its inhabitants cope with their surroundings, reflecting their desire for a return to an ancient way of life.”
Varvara Nedilska is a Ukrainian Canadian multidisciplinary artist living and working in Toronto, Ontario. In 2020 she received her Bachelor’s of Design in Illustration with Distinction from OCAD University. Her practice focuses mainly around narrative illustration, although recently she has been branching out into printmaking and sculpture. She always works in analogue media (most often inks and watercolours) and some of her biggest inspirations are medieval and surrealist art, the Flemish Renaissance, folk/“outsider” art and the natural world.
