“My work is a collection of abstract paintings that explore the polarities of the inner-self. Using oil on canvas and panel, I aim to investigate the human subconscious, acknowledging both inner light and shadow. Working wet-on-wet, I add and subtract oil paint on top of an acrylic underpainting by using an intuitive process to create an ephemeral quality that appears to be just on the verge of a discernible form. Vaguely figurative shapes begin to surface from a shroud, signifying an emergence of the unconscious. My work stems from personal experience and an interest in philosophy, transpersonal psychology, and altered states of consciousness. ”
