Consolacion
Illustrator

Kristian Carl Talamayan Consolacion was born in 1998 in Candon City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. In 2007, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada. He is a recent graduate at OCAD University in the Drawing and Painting: Digital Painting and Expanded Animation program. Kristian’s work explores the decolonization of Filipino culture, whilst living in or being adapted to a Western-dominant society. Working interchangeably between traditional and digital mediums, then hybridizing them, his work breaks down or deconstructs subtle nuances of Filipino culture, such as relationship to religion, familial bonds, linguistics, indigeneity, and diasporic experiences in an effort to decolonize.
