These paintings explore the tension between the riotous outside world and the quietude of my apartment. How does the calmness of a domestic space clash with the urgency of intrusive thoughts? The secret word for the series is ‘exasperation’.

“In Bookshelf, I show a curio shelf in my studio space. The books and knickknacks are accurate to the space, and I have injected the composition with a silent shout. At the time it was painted we were waiting with bated breath for the results of the U.S. election. The things my mind screamed reading articles, seemingly hourly, about the horse-in-a-hospital president was worlds away from the safe place my body inhabited. ”
