Framing Don River
Environmental Design
2024
BackgroundThe Don Valley, as a natural ravine within the Toronto urban, offers an ecological space for humans to relax and alleviate daily pressures. However, the one-way trail system has led to a lack of accessibility and insufficient resting spots, limiting opportunities for people to observe nature further.
“Framing Don River is a proposal using acupunctural architectures to enhance the Don Valley system in Toronto to improve access, curate experience, and framing the aesthetic of nature.A new extended trail will be built upon the inactive North Don trail. Four bridges are proposed to be built to support better trail circulation and accessibility while framing the beautiful Don River natural views. Two mini pavilion groups will form in two locations along the trail, in purpose to provide space for resting and increase the chance to observe nature in a clamful way.”
