Rethread is a design research project that asks: How can remanufactured materials and design communication help people understand the impact of fast fashion and encourage longer garment lifespans?Fast fashion hides its true cost. Consumers see price and style, but not the water, carbon, or waste behind their clothes. Rethread makes the invisible visible through three outcomes: three framed garments with first-person narratives, a tie remade from old clothes with red thread stitching, and a website that teaches mending, remaking, donating, label-reading, and reflection.
“Most solutions say: buy better. Rethread says: care for what you already own.Through remade objects, honest labels, and red thread, this project shifts focus from consumption to connection. Small actions add up. A single stitch extends a life.We don't need more clothes. We need stronger relationships with them.”
