She Peels an Orange For Us, In the Morning

Sapphic-Erotic Utopia

“The creation of this triptych began as an exploration of symbols of sex and erotica used in visual media throughout history and how they can be used to represent a sapphic erotic experience. She Peels and Orange For Us uses voluptuous shapes, messy brush strokes and juicy drips of hot wax to mimic some of the physical sensations associated with sexual experiences. This work attempts to generate feelings of pleasure, intimacy, euphoria, ripeness, warmth and lust by combining sensual imagery such as fruit, honey, hands, lips and tongues with colour, texture and material viscosity.”
