Programming Letter "R"

Other
2023
This experimental design series reimagines the typographic form of the letter "R" through the lens of code—where HTML, CSS, and JavaScript converge to animate and abstract language into dynamic visual form. Each variation deconstructs and reconfigures the letter, challenging conventional ideas of legibility, function, and digital expression. These pieces invite the viewer to see code not just as a tool, but as a design material capable of producing playful, algorithmic typography.

“In this work, I explore the intersection between code and letterform, focusing on how the letter “R” can evolve into something sculptural, performative, and generative. Using JavaScript for logic, HTML for structure, and CSS for style, I transform the static glyph into a moving, modular entity—no longer constrained by its typographic purpose, but liberated as a visual experiment.Through this iterative process, I aim to highlight how programming can be an artistic practice—where variables become building blocks of visual rhythm, and randomness or geometry becomes aesthetic choice. These works sit between type and abstraction, offering a space where viewers are encouraged to read, interpret, and play. The question becomes not just what is this letter? but what can it become?Ultimately, the project is a meditation on how even the most familiar forms—when filtered through code—can yield endless, unexpected transformations.”
