Project Value Proposition:DAIME (Design and AI Manufacturing Experience) is a design platform that uses AI and 3D printing to empower people to co-create hyper-personalized, sustainable furniture. Instead of choosing from static catalogs, users collaborate with AI to design pieces tailored to their spaces, lifestyles, and values. DAIME integrates spatial scanning, material adaptation, and carbon tracking into a seamless design-to-production pipeline while cutting waste, reducing lead times, and democratizing furniture creation. DAIME is furniture design reimagined as a personal, accessible, and climate-conscious experience. What is the goal? DAIME was built to realize the concept of "on demand" printing and manufacturing.InsightThe traditional furniture industry asks consumers to fit their lives around static, pre-designed products. Most major brands offer mass-produced pieces with limited personalization, forcing individuals to compromise between functionality, style, and space. Through deep research and user interviews, it became clear that consumers today crave something more: meaningful ownership, not mass-market sameness. There is a growing desire for personalization in every aspect of life — and furniture, an intimate part of how we live, has been left behind. In addition, many users feel intimidated by design decisions, believing that custom creation is reserved for experts or those with artistic training. Technologies like AI and AR, when made intuitive and accessible, have the potential to eliminate this barrier completely.Another crucial insight was that sustainability can no longer be treated as an optional feature or marketing tagline. People want to feel and measure their environmental impact in real time, not just read vague promises. Furniture — traditionally one of the largest contributors to industrial waste — is a prime area for disruption through circular design, sustainable materials, and on-demand local production.IdeaDAIME emerged as a solution to reimagine how people interact with the spaces and objects they live with. It is an intelligent platform that combines AI-powered co-creation, spatial mapping, ergonomic intelligence, and sustainable 3D printing into a single user-driven system.Instead of presenting a static catalog of choices, DAIME starts with the individual. Through an intuitive onboarding experience, users are guided to express their needs, emotions, and spatial requirements. AI then collaborates with them, generating furniture suggestions based on style, size, comfort, and environmental impact. Augmented Reality (AR) visualization enables users to preview how each piece will fit seamlessly into their living environment.Material choices are not only aesthetic but intelligent: DAIME recommends options based on lifestyle factors, sustainability goals, and production feasibility. A built-in carbon impact tracker shows users exactly how their design choices affect the planet. From design inception to production, DAIME simplifies and demystifies the creative process, making high-level design accessible, joyful, and personal.ImpactDAIME represents a complete shift in the furniture economy — from passive consumption to active co-creation. It eliminates wasteful practices like mass production, inventory surplus, and long-distance shipping by enabling localized, on-demand 3D printing. DAIME reduces labor costs and labor up to 80% and transforms the streamlined process from a 10-step process into a 3-step process.Unlike traditional furniture retailers, DAIME does not lock users into predefined styles or dimensions. Unlike basic configurators or DIY furniture kits, it offers emotional intelligence, ergonomic personalization, and real-time environmental feedback throughout the design journey. It empowers users not only to design but also to understand and optimize their choices. The impact of DAIME is profound: a reduction in carbon emissions, a new sense of ownership for consumers, and a future where spaces reflect authentic personal narratives instead of fitting into generic molds. Through DAIME, furniture becomes more than functional — it becomes a living extension of who we are, how we feel, and how we shape the world around us.
“How might we empower users to co-create furniture tailored to their lives, spaces, and values — while minimizing environmental impact?”
