Typographic Script
Graphic Design
2022
This magazine is a visual and educational exploration of historical typographic scripts, delving into their origins, evolution, and defining characteristics. Each spread highlights a specific script — from Blackletter to Roman to Transitional — examining the cultural, historical, and aesthetic forces that shaped them. Through curated type specimens, visual annotations, and contextual writing, the magazine bridges the past and present of type design, making the story of typography accessible to both designers and enthusiasts.
“Typography is more than letters — it's a reflection of culture, time, and expression. In creating this magazine, I set out to explore the roots of the letterforms we often take for granted. My design process combined research, editorial design, and visual storytelling to present each typographic script not just as a functional tool, but as a piece of living history. I was particularly drawn to how the aesthetic details of typefaces — like the sharpness of Blackletter or the clarity of Roman forms — mirror the values and technologies of their time. This project is both a tribute to traditional type and an invitation to engage more deeply with the shapes that shape our world.”
