Washi Tape Designs

These looping Washi tape designs bring elements of the Dust of Buzhou series into functional art. The top design features a dynamic pattern of a bird chasing the sun, symbolizing the eternal pursuit of power and freedom. Hidden within the pattern is the queen’s double-pupil eye, subtly integrated to reflect her unseen influence over the events unfolding in the story.The bottom design is adapted and reworked from Flourish, the brick relief illustration. It depicts groups of worshipers journeying towards Buzhou Mountain. The figures are subtly arranged to evoke a sense of reverence and movement. This pattern reinforces the theme of devotion and the cycle of life and death central to the narrative.These designs serve as a small, tangible extension of the themes and aesthetics of the larger narrative, blending storytelling with everyday objects.
