As the sole author, designer, and illustrator, “A Leopard Can Always Change Its Spots” was truly a passion of mine and I have been so proud to share it. After finishing this book as a project in one of my classes, I went on to self publish it through Amazon, where it reached best seller in its category within its first week of being published.Luca is a leopard with one problem–he doesn’t like his spots! Join Luca as he sets off on a journey through the jungle, on a search for someone who can turn him into someone new and different. When suddenly he meets one animal who changes everything…A tale of self-love and acceptance, children and parents alike will fall in love this classic story, and learn along with Luca how important it is to always be true to yourself.Outside of my work at OCAD, I also work teaching children at an after school program, and this story was inspired by the students I work with. Many of the children I work with are those with difficulties learning in a traditional school environment, and also ESL students learning English as their second or even third language. After reading a book together one class, I asked my student Luca what story he would like to read next. He answered that he wanted to read a story about a leopard- I didn't have one so I decided to make one myself! This story is dedicated to all my students who are wonderful just the way they are. The book is 20 pages total plus a front and back cover.
