As a second portion of two immigration experiences, the domestic scene is directly inspired by my aunt's glasswares and tablecloth. Present throughout each family gathering, the composition does not only surround nostalgic value for myself. Rather, the scene further visualizes one half of a relationship between my aunt and my mother beginning in the same Ukrainian household, and ending in two separate Toronto household just minutes away from one another. Both sisters continuously embrace cultural and nostalgic norms, finding comfort in the objects familiar to them amidst a physical disconnect from the country they grew up in.
