Culture is the ideas, customs, or social behaviour of a particular group of people or society. It is also a character and knowledge of individuals, languages, religion, social habits, music and art. Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in modern history and the contemporary world, where over half of the population consists of international immigrants. Torontonians are a diverse group of people however, each community faces social disconnection due to a lack of understanding of other cultures. The project "Social Silos: Culture Complex" explores the history of industrial structure and its relationship with society's identity formation. The adaptive-reused environment embraces a new definition of multiculturalism and diversity by providing a space that allows people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds to interact and gain exposure to cultural expression and community well-being.
