Kevin - Character Designs

Character design is about finding those little quirks that make characters feel real. With Kevin I wanted every detail, from his ridiculous wardrobe to his perfectly unimpressed expression, to show just how out of place he is in this world. He might not be the smartest in the office, but at least he’s authentic.

“When I was designing Kevin, I wanted to create a character who blends in... but not really. As an orange cat undercover in the corporate world, Kevin’s got the basics: a tie, pants, and a fake moustache. But that's it. No shirt, no shoes, just freeing the nipple like it’s his second job. Oh, and he’s got six nipples, because, well, he's a cat. It’s the little details like this that remind you Kevin’s just here to do the bare minimum.His boss, a chubby rat with a slick swoosh of hair, a bolo tie, and a vest, is the perfect contrast to Kevin’s laid-back approach to office life. Where his boss is all about looking important, Kevin’s just trying to make it through the day with as little effort as possible, taking full advantage of that single brain cell all orange cats seem to share.”
