One of Us is a Monster follows the frameworks explored in a previous project, "Real Utopias?". It is an original play sponsored by Bell Let's Talk in partnership with Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto that expands on the Bell Let's Talk campaign to target BIPOC communities.
“Where do mental health issues come from? When reflecting on my own struggles with mental health, I realized that many of the emotions I’ve experienced lead back to complicated relationships in my personal life. One of Us is a Monster is all about conversations I wish I had the courage to start. I think that if I had experienced more stories growing up about people who look and talk like me, who face similar struggles as I do, I think I would have been able be more honest with my feelings before they became so monstrous. ”
