LiVsafe : Race To The Sky
Environmental Design
2021
By 2050, the city of Toronto will have all of their transportation and buildings powered by zero carbon energy, or 100% electric. Thus, all traditional gas stations will become obsolete as there will be no further demand for gasoline. Technologies will advance through the implementation of contactless services that are widely recommended due to the population’s increased exposure to pandemics. Researchers state that the presence of pandemics will continue to rise primarily due to rapid population growth. Consequently, Toronto will need to design and build a hospitality complex to ensure that there are adequate spaces for emergency medical services such as vaccination or assessment centers and walk-in clinics. Additionally, this complex will be utilized as a quarantine center during a pandemic. If there is no imminent health threat, it will function as a hotel for both short or long-term stays.
“LiVsafe is a proposed building complex that can adapt and fit both everyday use and emergency pandemic use. LiVsafe is constructed and programmed to ensure contactless services for all its occupants. With built-in sky garages, you can check-in and arrive straight into your unit all within the comfort of your car as the garage is connected to the living room. Room service is provided through robotic deliveries as guests will have any packages or food delivered to their room. Guests can also enjoy a moment on the lush green rooftop which can be accessed through the car lift and elevators. This rooftop will provide a stellar view of the city and lively greenery to comfort quarantined individuals. Most importantly, LiVsafe will produce electricity from green energy sources as the structure utilizes microgrids to transfer electricity to the building.”
