Freshly Pickeed features multiple renditions of the same, small figure. She is sleeping curled up amongst a fruit plate. The viewer is on top of the plate, looking in.

“The title, Freshly Picked, is a reference to how the girls and fruit are plated and presented. They are vulnerably laid out and prepared for the viewer to grab at. They are available to be taken, and the perspective puts the viewer directly on top of the plate, as if we are going in to begin eating. This piece is about a power imbalance. The sleeping girls are at the mercy of the viewer. It is a comment on the male gaze, particularily how it perpetuates feminine vulnerability.

“I paint surrealist landscapes with fantastical subject matter, portraying wondrous settings of 'make believe' that have excited me from a young age.”
