Calling Card
Painting
1/3 Oil and acrylic paintings apart of the series "Everything Leaves Except Me"
“"Calling Card" reflects on the over-sexualization I submit myself to in order to feel a sense of worth and value to others as well as the implications of it on my self-confidence. I appropriated the recognizable format used on social media platforms to translate the extent I go to in order to give myself up to appeal to others. I often find myself feeling insignificant and unworthy of love unless I can provide for others though be it in a sexual way and this piece depicts how far I am willing to go in order to gain the smallest amount of care. I positioned the figure, myself, facing away from the viewer as I wanted to display my own ignorance of the effects and damage this behaviour has resulted in. ”
