Drawing, sculpture, and performance come together in this deeply personal yet relatable piece.
“This multimedia work explores the idea of overindulgence as a form of self sabotage. The sculptural, figurative and ritualistic elements of this piece work together to illuminate the consequences of overindulging in unhealthy habits, cravings and temptations with a complete lack of self control or will power. Execution in the form of a shrine represents my romanticization of these self destructive behaviours. The shrine contains objects and drawings that symbolize five unhealthy habits - smoking, drinking, overeating, oversleeping, and over-consuming digital media. The subsequent destruction was carried out by smothering the shrine in materials that symbolize the five unhealthy habits, which materializes the idea that "enough is enough", for continuing this behaviour any longer will result in irreversible damage to my body and mind, therefore it must come to an end. ”
