Exploration of the liminal experience I have, caused by European colonialism in Brazil.
“The state I lived in Brazil has the biggest colony of German and Italian migrants outside of Europe, this makes it which most people on southern Brazil have a great influence from these cultures, in the way they treat each other, beliefs, culinary practices, architecture and more. However, the lived experience in Brazil as a country is extremely mixed between Indigenous, African and European culture in reality, even though there has been a brutal constant process of erasure of these BIPOC communities. This duality causes a strangeness when trying to find my identity within my own country. In this work I examine this duality through a diptych where my identities are split between European culture and Brazilian culture.”
