Split Personalities illustrates the double-edged nature of living with a cochlear implant. On one side, Poofy is energized, connected, present, and engaged. On the other, she wears the device out of obligation to herself, drained by the very thing that grants her access. Two truths held in the same body, neither cancelling the other out.
