Indigenous and Non-Indigenous: Closing the Gap between Peoples and Cultures

Environmental Design
2021
The relationship between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people has been long-standing in existence and complex. In some cases, It has caused social stigmas, social imbalance and the lack of knowledge and information. Thus, this thesis is an attempt to design safe social spaces for both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous culture while restructuring the social imbalance of the East Village in Calgary. "Indigenous people made huge contributions to this country. The biggest is in sharing the land and resources. People need to see that, understand that. Indigenous people should be viewed as the founding peoples of this land." Perry Bellegarde
