"New Mythologies: Alternate Worlds" is an artwork composed from found, repurposed, and up-cycled material such as a brass disc, mortar, starch, silicon adhesive sealant, acrylic paint, acrylic cube, wood, rubber, paper cups, and steel, serves as a contemporary tribute to age-old storytelling traditions.
“"New Mythologies: Alternate Worlds" weaves together narratives inspired by mythology, futuristic colonization, and environmental devastation, with a special focus on wildfires in the age of the Pyrocene. By juxtaposing seemingly disparate materials—steel and rubber, typically associated with industrial and mechanical realms, with organic forms created by acrylic paint and starch, this juxtaposition suggests a blending of the natural and the artificial, the earthly and the ethereal, evoking a sense of wonder and mystery. It hints at the notion that beneath the surface of the mundane and tangible lies a deeper, ineffable dimension of existence, where the boundaries between reality and the unknown blur. This interplay of materials prompts contemplation on the mystical aspects of life, while also paving the way for futuristic interpretations. Furthermore, the inclusion of wildfires, a consequence of a changing climate, adds a layer of urgency to the narrative, inviting contemplation on the environmental impact of human actions on the planet.”
