Memory IV- Selection
Painting
This work explores memory as a process of selection and filtering. The threads act as an active agent, determining what is held and what is allowed to fade, reflecting how memory is continuously shaped as we move forward.
“In Memory IV, I wanted to address memory as something we actively choose. The threads are like memories that we choose to remember and allow to filter through us.Below these forms that are slowly dissolving are memories that we have let go and allow to slip further away. The structured form suggests a space where memory is sorted and processed. As we move forward we don't carry every memory with us, we choose what to keep and what to let go of.Through this, I explore memory as an ongoing act of selection, where certain experiences are preserved while others are intentionally or unconsciously left behind.”
