Installation

poem in cut vinyl, hand embroidery on mother's white saree
This installation which combines poetry with a hand embroidered work on the artist's mother's saree speaks to themes of longing for the mother, the mother tongue and the mother land in diasporic experiences. White thread is used to emphasize how invisible and mute these stories of reaching may be. At first glance, the embroidered words are almost invisible, revealing itself only to viewers who are really looking for it.
