Press & Play

Wearable Arts
2025
Press & Play is a wearable glove controller that lets users create on-screen animations through simple hand gestures. By pressing different fingers into the palm or thumb, the glove triggers custom drawings and visuals on a web-based canvas. Each gesture produces a different response, allowing users to interact with the system in a playful and intuitive way.

“This project started with the idea of turning hand gestures into something visual and expressive. I was inspired by the Spider-Man “thwip” gesture, and wanted to create a wearable that felt just as responsive and satisfying to use.I also looked at wearable systems that translate American Sign Language into speech, which made me think about how hand movements can be used as a form of communication. Instead of translating gestures into words, Press & Play turns them into visuals. The result is a simple interaction where your hands become the controller, and small movements create immediate, visible responses on screen.”
