Gazelle

Textiles

mixed textiles (cotton, corduroy, tulle, wig, burlap, wool, felt, twine) on canvas, approx. 75"x85"

“This piece is made entirely out of found materials. A discarded piece of raw canvas called to me, and I sewed wool scraps to it. I did not have a plan in mind, and all the materials were added in the state they were found. I did not shape or trim any individual scrap but instead added each material sequentially in discussion with the previous one. In time, an animal-like form emerged, and a gazelle leapt out of my imagination.”
