GAIA GATE is a multimodal digital camera and locative mobile game showcasing external contextual metadata (ECM) as it benefits app design and data visualization. As a technological demonstration, GAIA GATE allows users to create contextually-enriched photos and play procedurally-generated game levels based on the data collected from the photos. The project represents one of many possible examples of how broadening the contextual data associated with images can enrich multimedia experiences.
