AXIS CUBE
“The design, we extracted the orthogonal grids in a cube. These horizontal and vertical lines resembled the most common monotonic connection between humans and objects. Then we interfered, moved and distorted the orthogonal grid system. Based on Bruno Latour's Actor-Network Theory, the key to the network is not its nodes, but the lines between each node, so we only focus on these lines inside the cube. Adding or deleting some regular geometric blocks, and insert the functional space of modern architecture into the distorted grid. While giving the cube a certain modern architectural appearance, we also created a sense of defamiliarization and estrangement. It is a cube, but it does not seem to be. Some sculptures and murals are used by us to enhance the above-mentioned feelings. They have lost their original symbolic meaning and are only used to enhance the sensory stimulation to the viewer.”
