In Byung-Chul Han’s book “Agony of Eros”a while ago, what he said about “self” and “other” is slowly making sense to me in this year. We tend to neglect others in the society that’s over emphasize on individualism, and narcissism is the way to embrace and appreciate oneself.We don’t value things and people other than “me” or “us”. Whether it’s a different religion, different race, different origin or different species. “In a world of fetishized individualism and technologically mediated social interaction, it is the Other that is eradicated, not the self. In today's increasingly narcissistic society, we have come to look for love and desire within the ‘inferno of the same’.”
