For this project, I have designed a CD complete with a custom stamped surface and an informational liner note that folds out to a poster.
“CHANCER WIND is a band that fell apart before recording their material, and this project is a CD that rectifies that. Although the band had an album’s worth of songs, successful covers, and a live presence in the Toronto music scene, once they broke up there was no tangible way to listen to their music. With help from a few members of the band, I was able to collect rough recordings and create a CD as a way to preserve their sound. In doing so, I hope to encapsulate their music/history in the form of a physical object. I have created 45 CDs for this project, and my hope is that over the course of GRADex I will be able to release them to the public so that their music will be out in the world. ”
