“This thesis proposes a new housing typology that reimagines modular housing as a community-oriented, ecologically integrated system. Drawing on permaculture principles, it uses cellular automata and genetic algorithms to generate modular layouts optimized for dense urban environments. Urban space is modeled as an adaptive grid, where simple, local interactions produce complex, emergent patterns. The result is a series of modular configurations that prioritize efficient land use, green infrastructure, and social connectivity. Instead of isolated, minimalist units, the system links modules through shared green spaces and communal pathways—encouraging interaction, resource-sharing, and urban food production.A living, growing, communal fabric.Cellula.”
