“Spectral Vainikas explores cultural connection through the manipulation of form. Starting as a vainikas (flower crown) placed among trees, the process of digitization creates glitches and voids, revealing another dimension at play.As a member of Lithuanian diaspora, connecting with my culture, language, and history is a constant process, a constant growth. In rebuilding this connection with my culture, whether it be through physical distance or lack of knowledge, there are voids that I have to maneuver.In this way, Spectral Vainikas pulls from this experience, creating a space where voids in cultural and ancestral knowledge are visualized and experienced.”
