Pomegranate

Graphic Design
2025
Why are Pomegranates an important symbol and fruit in the Iranian culture? In Iranian culture, pomegranates are highly symbolic and culturally significant, representing life and fertility. Iran has valued this fruit for thousands of years, and many facets of Iranian culture—from ancient rites and food to literature and art are influenced by it. This pattern was inspired by the Yalda celebration, also known as the winter solstice, where Iranians celebrate the longest night of the year with their loved ones with cozy and warm foods along with eating Pomegranate seeds. This pattern shows the word pomegranate (انار) written by hand many times, formed together to create a unison pattern, just like the fruit itself. This plays on the cultural importance and nostalgic feeling of the fruit and what it represents.
