Banh Mi Wars

Banh Mi Wars is a 2-4 players competitive card game about make a delicious Banh Mi sandwich - as cards! Players are competing Banh Mi vendors trying to be the first to assemble an order. Draw the required piece in your hands (and stove), cook the needed ingredients, overcome the many random events, fight and sabotage your way to victory!

“I aim to create a quick to learn card game with exciting card combos, player interactions and comeback mechanic. At the same time exploring how to deliver a tactile physical experience that transcend the medium. Ultimately, this work display pieces of Vietnamese culture through a satirical and humorous lens while engaging the audience in an interactive experience.In this work, I created a fully functional and finished game to explore the process behind game system design. In specific I conducted numerous playtest to address core gameplay design such as intuitiveness, ease of play, game length, player interaction and gameplay balancing in a multiplayer competitive context.Additionally, i explored card games and board games designs and manufacturing; UI/UX design and consistent wording to deliver instructions to player in a board game context.In the end, even though I'm satisfied with the result, as a great game designer once said "If you're game is 90% done, you have 90% the way to go"”
