Kanoe, formerly called CleanMeds, is a humanitarian initiative by Dr. Nav Persaud from St. Michaels Hospital. Kanoe distributes essential medications that Canadians and Indigenous populations should have free access to with the aim to inform public policy in Canada and around the world. I joined the OCADU Health Studio Design Team to rebrand Kanoe. We worked together to rename the brand, design the packaging, and create a distinct brand identity. “Kanoe aims to help both Canadians and Indigenous populations. The design emphasizes the concept of a canoe; a symbol that resonates with both audiences. Taking the "k" from the origins of the Indigenous "kanu" we bring to mind imagery of our lands beautiful blue waters and landscapes. We believe in respecting and preserving the land, aiming to design packaging that is both sustainable and functional.”
