“For my Lola, my grandmother, whose spirit lives on as the sunlight that reaches gently through the trees, everlasting.Kapwa, the Filipino idea of a shared inner self, is deeply entangled in the works gathered here. Like trees passing nourishment through unseen roots, these works move beyond the singular “I” toward a larger consciousness formed by seeing oneself in others. Kin is figured as sunlight, bound to the soul, warming from within. In this sense, the forest is a threshold space: a site where life grows densely through relation, shaped by ancestors, family, memory, flora, fauna, and the enduring networks that hold it. Like seeds carried from hand to hand, these works are created from inherited memories and mutual tending. Cradled in their making is a tenderness that time cannot evict, a knowledge that to care for another is also to be remade by them.  ”
