4EVER2000S is an experimental media film about the recollection of personal cyber experiences and memories of the 2000s. The video reminisces of a dream with visual and sensory elements that give glimpses of things that were cyber trends during the 2000s. The video plays on the idea of distortion and memories, and the concept of remembering specific details and imagery that brings one back to a specific time in their life. The title is in reference to the visual trends that molded a generation of artists through common shared experiences.
“4EVER2000$ is an experimental media film of the recollection and memories of my cyber experiences of the 2000s. The themes of the video follow trends and imagery popular of the time being and is a visual and sensory experience. The title 4EVER2000$ is in reference to the everlasting effect that these outlets and trends left on those it was popular amongst, and how shared experiences can create feelings of nostalgia. The project goal was to entice the feelings of nostalgia through personal cyber experiences, that others too had in common of that era. The inspiration of this work was my own cyber experiences and memories of things and popular trends of the 2000s. Finding that a lot of my works subconsciously are influenced by my past and memories, I found this to be the perfect representation of the idea of recollecting memories. To me, it is very important to dive deeper and understand what influences, influenced, and motivates one to create works and why they are drawn to what they are drawn to. Being aware of this to me allows me to create works that are not only more personal but have more meaning than surface level perspective. Majority of the research of the work came through personal reflection, conversation with others around my age group, and the innerwebs. Through finding common shared experiences through others, creating this project not only allowed me to take a trip down memory lane, but also enticed feelings in others that it resonates with. This project also allowed me to show a time in history that influenced a generation through shared cyber experiences. ”
