Typographic Visualization

A poster and booklet that displays the components involved in the workings of a combustion engine and their relationship to each-other through the expressive use of typographic form. The poster acts as the focus piece that shows the full composition while the booklet supports it with more information and a focus on the various actions that take place.

“The goal of the poster is to show the many levels of understanding that individuals using engines can possess. There are three levels of hierarchy representing the levels of understanding. An individual might recognize the first level of hierarchy whereas others will be able to look at the finer details and recognize the more specific components of the engine.By taking inspiration from editorial designs of user manuals used for small engine machines, the booklet compliments the poster in a thematic way. The design also compliments on the role that a manual has for adding context to unrecognizable visual components.”
