WOVEN Neighbourhood Centre

2022
The Lawrence and Midland community center attempt to promote community involvement and strengthens ties. Create an environment and experience that encourages human activity and creativity, resulting in personal growth. To serve as a social hub for the community, with a sense of ownership among the members. To strike a balance between the community's aspirations and the environment they are familiar with to create a new environment suited to their needs. Using the concept of weaving in design components like material, colours, patterns, light, beauty, and harmony to create an environment that everyone uses. Weaving assists in the preservation of that bond. The colourfully flowing ropes express the courtyard's connectivity, and linking to all levels will allow a strong bond to grow. These spaces will be different building programs, such as the library, classes, art studio, retail spaces, etc, to help develop and create a sense of physical and mental belonging.
