"La Part de l'autre" is a novel by Franco-Belgian author Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt which sets the defining moment of Adolf Hitler's life as the day he was rejected from art school, and writes two parallel narratives about both outcomes. Schmitt also stipulates the alternative history of the world in the narrative where he gets accepted and becomes an artist. A fascinating read.
