2020
2020 was an unprecedented year for everyone. One full of insolation, fatigue, and fear.I needed an escape from it all, and I found that escape biking to Leslie Spit on Toronto's waterfront. Leslie Spit is a man-made peninsula that extends 5km out into Lake Ontario. Completely made out of construction waste of various Toronto buildings and streets, this urban wilderness became abandoned in the 1970s' as original plans to turn the area into a port were scrapped.Since then the Spit has become Tommy Thompson Park and is a favourite among bird watchers. One of Toronto's most remote and least visited parks, Leslie Spit became the perfect place to escape to in during COVID Summer.
“What started as a simple firepit evolved into one of Toronto's largest and most unique 'secret spots'. ”
