Hawk on Birch

Painting
2023
Oil on birch bark
9.5" x 15"
"Hawk on Birch" is the first of a future series "Birds on Birch", a series of Ontario native birds painted on birch bark. A majestic Red Hawk is perched on a piece of weathered wood, its sharp eyes gazing intently ahead. The feathers mimic the texture of the bark it is painted on, uniting the piece as one. The composition gives the impression of a serene and peaceful moment captured in nature. The wood beneath the bird is textured and worn, adding a rustic charm. The overall painting is beautifully simple yet striking, showcasing the beauty of wildlife in its natural habitat. This painting captures the essence of a bird of prey in a moment of quiet contemplation.
